About Me

About Christine Kovach, LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker/ psychotherapist in private practice in Alameda, California. I specialize in working with those who are facing serious illness, those grappling with the challenges of caregiving, those enduring grief and loss as well as other life transitions.   I hold both individual and family counseling sessions as well as facilitate a number of support groups for caregivers of ill and elderly loved-ones, and support groups for professional hospice staff who provide care to the terminally ill. I have a 16-year history working in hospice care prior to starting my private practice and have a deep connection to the end-of-life journey.

In addition to compassionate "talk-therapy", I am pleased to employ the expressive arts in the service of healing, finding meaning and fostering support and resilience.

I offer a number of specialized workshops to support those who are grieving and those who grapple with a variety of illnesses.

I also enjoy providing trainings for volunteer caregivers in topics such as "Maintaining Healthy Boundaries" and trainings for healthcare and eldercare law professionals re: "How to Facilitate Difficult Discussions" (focusing on facilitating difficult treatment and end-of-life decision-making).

I also offer elder care planning consultations to individuals and families.
